Today, Taylor stepped foot in Mexico for the first time in
his life. He also left Mexico for the first time in his life. There were a
number of firsts, actually, none of which included receiving importation papers
for the Jimmy.
Our day was pretty laid back. It involved sleeping,
switching to a cheaper motel, eating, and few other things. Because our
importation papers hadn’t arrived yet, we decided to investigate getting a
temporary permit for the Jimmy in the afternoon. This involved walking across a
bridge into Mexico and talking to some government people over there.
On our way out of Mexico, we greeted the American border
patrol, who greeted us with these profound words: “You guys know you really
stand out, don’t you?” We thanked him for helping us magnify the hidden nagging
thoughts that we might get mugged, and headed to Red Lobster, where we all
proceeded to order chicken.
Tonight, we are all staying up past midnight entertaining
ourselves by writing blogposts so we can be well rested for our early departure
in the morning for Ixtlan (with a temporary permit). Thanks for your prayers for safe travels.
