prayers for roberto's family

We've told you before about Roberto, the young boy that we are helping in school. I think we've also told you about his Grandma, Rosa, who lives with the family, and I'm pretty sure I posted a picture of her on the blog at some point. She's a very elderly woman, but up until now has been responsible for taking care of Roberto and his younger brother Erik while Roberto's mom works.

Unfortunately Rosa is not doing very well. Roberto's mom, Ana Rosa, asked us yesterday when we took Roberto home from school if we would be available today to take Rosa to the hospital. We went in to see her, and she wasn't able to get out of bed and hadn't eaten all day. She told Grant she feels like she is ready to go.

Rosa is a sister in church, and while talking to her yesterday, she seems at peace. However, Ana Rosa, Roberto, and Erik are very emotional and if Rosa were to die, there would be drastic changes in the family. Roberto and Erik are only half brothers, so Erik does have other family but Roberto doesn't really. Their Grandma has been a stable factor in a life that has been anything but, and although she hasn't always been all there, she has always been nearly everything they've needed.

So we're walking into this situation today feeling rather helpless, weak, and in need of much prayer. Anytime you think of it today, could you pray for us? For wisdom, for patience, and for language skills. We haven't heard from Ana Rosa yet this morning. She had to go take care of some paperwork and then likely this afternoon we will transport Rosa to the hospital. Pray that we can be support - emotionally and spiritually - for this hurting family, and pray that through this, Ana Rosa could see her need for salvation. Also, pray that we could seek help for ourselves when we need it. It's easy for us to become kind of possessive of Roberto because we've worked with him a lot, but there are other people who would be willing to reach out also. Pray that we could know when to say yes and when to say no and that we could be patient and show love to everyone involved. Pray that God would be glorified and that He could show himself to Roberto's family.
