these fall days

Sometimes it seems from day to day
That life doesn't change at all
But I know that someday I'll fondly look back
On this 2014 season of fall.

Daddy is gone around half-past-seven
He brings Roberto to school.
The morning is bright and the air is clear,
the temperature perfectly cool.

We're up around 8 and put socks on bare toes
And serve up some oatmeal and milk
We're happy and cheerful and glad to be awake...
that is, until the first spill.

It might be an ouchie, it might be a "no",
it might be a frustration or need
But at 19 months when life gets rough,
problems come and go at such a fast speed.

So we're happy again, and we're ready to go!
"Outside?" she asks, and "shoes?"
We put on a sweatshirt and look for some tennies,
which we seem so apt to lose.

The door gives a bang as she heads out
To watch schoolkids or climb on the rocks
When Mommy goes out she loves to swing,
or hang laundry or "write" with some chalk.

Mommy gets breakfast and maybe, just maybe
a few moments to sit down with the Word.
Then little brother is up and the day really begins
and she talks and he cries to be heard.

About once a week to the market we go,
Bundled up, in the stroller, side-by-side
Pesos for veggies and a banana for her,
Greeting all with a "hi" and "bye! bye!"

Some days we walk up the hill, not down
to visit Daddy working in his shop
He's got projects for others, and in between those
he poured our concrete counter tops!

Around mid-day, she's ready to sleep
Mommy types or writes or does other tasks
So soon nap is over and it's on to the next,
"Titus?" or "Num-num?" she asks.

Typical toddler fare is the snack of choice,
"Please?" "May-may" and "doe-doe"
Raisins and cheerios are given and then,
Little brother wants some food of his own.

After his meal, he'll play with a toy
Big sister will sometimes assist
If play gets intense and behavior is bad
It's resolved with a hug and a kiss.

She loves to read books - with pictures and words
"Where is the boat?" "Theretheyare!"
Sometimes she'll go on an errand with Dad...
she loves to ride in the "car!"

At 2 we work on making lunch
And schoolgirls come by
They sometimes stop in and play with her
Or just respond to her "hi!"

Lunch is at 3 and that's a fun time!
Daddy is home from work
Then we get ready for evening plans,
Bible study, a walk, or to church.

Daddy has a study so we go to walk,
To see the "Bawk bawk" and "mooo"
Mommy runs and we bump along,
Or friends come along with us, too.

At church she's with Daddy and he's with Mom,
We sing and we pray and we read,
Obedience is something we're striving to learn
To God, for grace, we plead!

In evening time its baths and prayers
Then it's off to bed she goes.
But sometimes before that, a special treat...
to skype with someone she knows!

We sing how "God is so great!" and "so good"
And this season we know that He is.
There's time to be had, more than ever before,
We cherish the life stage we're in.

We say "Adios" and Ivory says "Bye"
We're now to the end of this post...
Thank you for reading about our days,
of which we try to make the most!
