Anyway, on Monday afternoon we went out to eat at a local restaurant - kind of to celebrate Father's Day because we didn't really get the chance on Sunday since Grant had to drive the long route before and after church. We took Roberto along and had such a good time with him - he told us about daily life in the fourth grade classroom and we were in stitches. It was so good to laugh with him and enjoy him for a change, rather than always being the ones in his life who are laying down the law and telling him what he can and can't do. A good relationship just doesn't develop like that, and yet we kind of entered his life because he had no rules... and so we're trying to find a better balance so that its not all rules and no relationship. So anyway, yesterday went wonderfully and we were so thankful for that.
"o give thanks unto the Lord; call upon his name: make known his deeds among the people. sing unto him […] talk ye of all his wondrous works. glory ye in his holy name. […] seek the Lord, and his strength. […] remember his marvellous works that he hath done [...] he opened the rock, and the waters gushed out; they ran in the dry places like a river. for he remembered his holy promise, and Abraham his servant. and he brought forth his people with joy, and his chosen with gladness." Psalm 105

first father's day
So the past few days or maybe even the last couple weeks, I've been a little bit down about how long it is still until we go home and how much water needs to go under the bridge before then. But that is not being content and there is much, much, much to do in the month that remains, and so I'm going to joyfully go about the work that the Lord has called us to do and that will be that. Sometimes I just have to convince myself.

Grant's Father's Day gift consisted of some Hershey's Kisses from me and Almond Joy from Ivory (he always says she brings so much joy) and a pair of mended jeans (it sounds so pathetic but really, they needed to be fixed so bad and I just hadn't taken the time to do it yet. So it was a good opportunity). :) We are thankful for a wonderful daddy!
