turning two

Ivory's happy birthday was well-celebrated here by the four of us! She thoroughly enjoyed all aspects of the day, including the cake, candles, presents, and birthday Skype calls. We'd been working on her cake for the last couple days, and I kept telling her that we couldn't eat it until Daddy came home and we ate lunch. She went with Grant to take Roberto home after school and as soon as she walked in the door, she asked for "eat airplane?"

Airplanes and gummy bears are two of Ivory's favorite things right now, so it seemed fitting to combine them for her birthday cake. She apparently has lots of very good memories of her airplane trip with Matt & Kim, as she talks about it regularly. 

She loved blowing out the candles so much. At first she wasn't sure what to do, but once she figured out how it worked, she wanted to do it over and over again. So we did. 

Even little brother got in on some of the cake consumption. We actually don't let him sit on the table like that, this was just for the picture. 

And then she got to open her presents! She had opened one from Marlene earlier this morning, and opened her gifts from Auntie and from us this afternoon. 

Thanks to all of you who thought of her on her birthday - we got many emails, skype calls, gifts, etc... you all have tremendously blessed her day. It's unbelievable that she's 2... but I suppose we'll say that every year.
