tlaquepaque

On Thursday, we drove to Guadalajara again! This time, we were dropping off Tara Huber at the airport and picking up Regg and Bev. Tara is from Denver, CO and has been here for a good part of the summer, staying with the Gonzalez family. Regg and Bev had been in the States for a few weeks and are now back here with us for a couple weeks before they move home permanently. So anyway, Tara needed to be at the airport around 2 and Regg and Bev didn't get in until closer to 7. So we had a few hours of time to explore!

We decided to take a bus and then a taxi to a nearby little town that you might describe as a suburb of Guadalajara called Tlaquepaque. They have a street/several blocks that are full of artisan shops, restaurants, and the like. When all was said and done, we didn't have an unlimited amount of time here because of the length of the trips back and forth from the airport, and because we ate at a restaurant, but it was still fun just to be together and explore.

Here are a few pictures.

The taxi that drove us to Tlaquepaque. We had a wonderful taxi driver who gave us all sorts of helpful information.

A street view - you can see a few shops and vendors. It was very quaint; a little bit too high-end/artisan-y (if that's word) for us.

We ate at this restaurant.

It was like being out on a patio except there was a glass-type roof over our heads. It was really neat.

Here we are!

It was enjoyable just to spend some time together. It rained a while toward the end of our visit, so we ended up getting pretty wet, but overall it was a very nice way to spend an afternoon!
