on the road again...

... this time on our way home from Michigan City, Indiana where we took a two-night getaway/retreat before we head south. It was an indescribable blessing and a better trip than we ever could have asked for. God provided spiritual fulfillment for us and a wonderful place to do it. We feel re-connected with Him and with each other, re-energized and refreshed. (A long to-do list is awaiting us at home, so that's a good thing!)

We left Monday afternoon and spent two nights at Tryon Farm Guest House, a Bed and Breakfast in a refurbished farmhouse offering lots of peace and quiet. We spent time on the grounds of the Bed and Breakfast, on the grass, gravel, and paved trails that wind behind the building, and also headed out to the Michigan City lighthouse and beach on Wednesday afternoon. The sun was warm and the water was cold. It was a beautiful day.

Here are just a few pictures from our time away. We are so blessed.
On the road again!

Tryon Farm Guest House - our Bed & Breakfast for the getaway
The Guest House

We got in late, so Claudia, our hostess, left the door unlocked and gave us directions to our room. It felt just like home! :)
We took a bike ride around the grounds. There were grassy, gravel, and paved trails. Behind the Guest House, somewhat related to it but not really, is a development of homes labeled 'modern country living'. They're green... secluded, environmentally-friendly, 'blending in with the layout of the land', sustainable. My builder husband found them fascinating. :)
The old-fashioned bikes were so cool and required NO work. :) Mine was pink!
Michigan City Lighthouse... I loved the walkway out to it!

We walked out to the light.

Back to the Guest House... here are just a couple pics of our room and the grounds that I took before we left this morning.

Like all good re-model projects, Claudia explained to us that the refurbishing of the Guest House is still a work in progress. The 'Attic Adventure Area' is part of that. It's a really neat attic with all kinds of places to relax and explore. We didn't spend any time up there, really, because we didn't discover it until the end, but its very neat and would make a cozy hide-out in the winter!
In the alcove at the very top of the house
You probably can't tell in the picture, but we got cheesecake with strawberries as part of our breakfast this morning... what a treat!

We left the Bed & Breakfast around 10:30 this morning and headed to the Dunes. We found a little spot high above the water that God seemed to have carved out for us to spend our quiet time this morning. It was beautiful... indescribable. And then of course, we ran down the dunes and dipped our toes in the water before we headed home. ;)

Psalm 121
"I will lift up mine eyes unto the hills, from whence cometh my help. My help cometh from the Lord, which made heaven and earth. He will not suffer thy foot to be moved: he that keepeth thee will not slumber. Behold, he that keepeth Israel shall neither slumber nor sleep. The Lord is thy keeper: the Lord is thy shade upon thy right hand. The sun shall not smite thee by day, nor the moon by night. The Lord shall preserve thee from all evil: he shall preserve thy soul. The Lord shall preserve thy going out and thy coming in from this time forth, and even for evermore."
