getaway to guadalajara

After taking Leah and Seth to the airport on Wednesday, we spent some time as a family in Guadalajara. Grant needed to go to some different places seeking more information about vehicle registration for the donated vehicle(s) that we are planning on bringing down this summer for the church, and we also decided to take the opportunity for a little getaway.

Guess what we found in Guadalajara?! That is a DQ. We split a Blizzard.

After DQ, we headed out in search of a Customs place that Grant needed to go to ask some questions. He found it, and was able to talk to someone, but they said he really needed to talk to someone else (not the first time he's heard that by any means).
Ivory and I waited in the van. She was so excited to lay on the floor and kick her feet!

So after that place, we set off to find a Wal-Mart, because I needed formula for Ivory. And we were lost. In the middle of Guadalajara (the second largest city in Mexico), and all of a sudden Grant was like - "No way". Because there, in front of us, was this tiny little office - the place that the other people had told him he needed to go for more information. We weren't looking for it, didn't even have an address - but there it was. Seriously, a miracle. And even better? It was 4 p.m. and offices like that are never open at 4 p.m., but they were. And it was time for Ivory to eat. Perfect time and place to stop? Yes.

Grant did have success at his meeting there, but believe it or not, they sent him somewhere else. So we went there the next day, after spending the night at a Hampton Inn in Guadalajara and eating Chili's for supper. It was an American getaway for us. :)

Ivory did excellent for her first hotel stay - slept all night in the Pack 'n' Play. Mommy did not sleep so well, mostly because I was worried that she wasn't going to sleep well, but that's how it goes. It was all great practice for spending the night in lots of different places when we come home. It really helped me a lot to try to figure out how to travel and do overnights with her.

And here we are - our first hotel stay as a family.

Next time we're overnight somewhere, it will be in the U.S. - two weeks from today!

  1. Little Ivory is just as sweet as ever in her pictures--only 2 weeks--that sounds great--I am looking forward to holding her. Love - Auntie
