a day in december

These are days when we stay in our pajamas a little longer to keep warm, make chai lattes from scratch, and fight colds and aching bodies; the days when we count down the days, exclaim over Christmas lights, and act out the Nativity with Jovenes; the days when we sew gifts for the Sunday School girls, sing Christmas carols, and enjoy a beautiful red poinsetta on the kitchen table.

These are also the days when the weather is perfect for a midday outing (no coats!), when Titus is learning to crawl and to sleep through the night (I'm only asking for six hours!) and when Ivory is learning to string together two words (or three) and constantly reminds us who everything belongs to... especially if it is her's and not Titus's.

These are those days... they are good ones! They are much better than previous days, when Titus was super fussy and didn't like stroller rides, when Ivory was just plain grumpy, and when mommy felt trapped and stir-crazy. Our weekend was a little (ok, a lot) rough because Grant was under the weather, and I have almost NO attributes of a good nurse, but we're pulling out of that and things are looking up. Overall life is much more manageable and I am looking forward to being home for the holidays, especially since the plane trip to get there doesn't seem nearly as daunting as it did a few weeks ago.

I've had a few people ask for our address - we really enjoy mail and would love to get your Christmas cards here! You can send them to:
